Assess Yourself

Here's a handy quick guide to assessing yourself - are you:

  • underweight?
  • acceptable weight?
  • overweight?
  • obsese?
  • morbidly obese?

To calculate your Body Mass Index, here is the formula:

BMI = W/(HxH)

where W is your weight in kilogrammes and H is your height in metres.

  1. Work out your height in metres and multiply the figure by itself
  2. Measure your weight in kilogrammes
  3. Divide the weight in kilogrammes by the height squared (answer to Q1)

Then look up where you scored in this table:

  Men Women
Underweight under 20 under 19
Acceptable Weight 20 - 25 19 - 25
Overweight 25 - 30 25 - 30
Obese 30 - 40 30 - 40
Morbidly Obese over 40 over 40
